This post has nothing to do with dyspraxia and everything to do with holding my Moglets close and thanking my lucky stars. It's about showing support for others and reminding myself never ever to take the life we have for granted, whatever its challenges and joys.
On Friday night the Moglets and I, plus Moglet Daddy (an extremely jet lagged Moglet Daddy!) indulged in a treat. We went to the Manchester Arena and watched the amazing Take That. Moglet Mummy might have drooled just a little. Moglet number 1 was embarrassed by the rather drunk lady in front who insisted on dancing with him. There were the usual family arguments about sweets and drinks and as usual we snuck out just that little bit early so Moglet #2 could cope with the crush. We did the usual selfies and social media sharing ( i.e. boasting).
But ultimately we came home, tired, happy and with new memories and alive...
Last night I was awoke by a text from a concerned overseas relative asking if we were ok.
"Just checking in... Seen what is happening in Manchester...Are you guys ok?"
At 6.30 Moglet Daddy rangs He never rings this early even when he is away.
"You ok?" we both ask.
Because...
This isn't the first terrorist attack on our green and pleasant land. Sadly, I doubt it will be the last. Each time I meet those familiar feelings of horror and disbelief. But this time it feels really personal.
We were in that space just days before. We had taken our children to laugh, dance, appreciate and love.
This year Moglet #1 has attended his first solo concert.
Some of our dearest friends live in Manchester
It all feels too close.
When I went to wake my Moglets this morning I didn't want to tell them. I didn't want to sully our precious new made memories with this news. I didn't want to put them in state of fear. But I did.
I can't protect my Moglets from this news but I am still determined to show them hope.
Hate is not going to shout louder than love in our lives. I will not blame the many for what the few have twisted and promoted in their cruelty. I will not subscribe the the hatred spouted by certain elements.
I will show my Moglets that they have a voice and we will use to stand with Manchester and everything it represents.
Our hearts, thought and prayers are with those affected.
