It's late, probably far too late to be starting a blog. Certainly far too late to be starting a blog that will change the world. Good thing I am not trying to do that then!
So what is the big idea? Well let me introduce myself. I am a normal mum of four children, 3 boys, 1 girl. And my second son has dyspraxia. In addition to this I am Special Educational Needs teacher.
"Ho ho!" I hear you cry. "SEN teacher. She have it sorted. Dyspraxia will hold no surprises, there will be no sting in it's tail."
Well my friends, if I may call you that, nothing, and I mean nothing, could be further from the truth.
Because some how when it's your child's name on that IEP, when it's you called to account, somehow all your knowledge, patience and training fly out the window. And you are floundering with the rest of them. Flipping your fins and getting no where.
So, after one of those days... You know the 'ONES', when Learning Support ring to tell you about all the meetings your beautiful child has forgotten to attend, when you have battled through double geography homework because last weeks was lost, when he's had a fab time at Scouts but hasn't a clue where he left his necker or his waterproof...I decided that I needed to write it down. Simple as that. Write it down and remind myself of the good things and share some of the harder things.
In the wise words of Dory the Fish I hope if nothing else this blog helps us to "Keep on Swimming."
Thank you for listening.
